Basil and Lime Burgers with Parsley-Paprika Guacamole

There are many good herb-infused burger recipes out there, but I haven’t yet found one that really hits the spot for me.
For a recent family barbecue, I decided to make my own, and the results were so delicious that they were finished in no time, with the popular consensus being that this recipe yielded light, brightly flavored burgers.
The fresh, sharp flavors of the guacamole highlight the citrusy flavors of the burger, and smeared on top, create a filling and savory burger.

For the burgers:

  • 2 pounds ground meat
  • juice of half a lime
  • 20 basil leaves, torn and shredded
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 small potato
  • 1 small onion
  • sprinkling of fresh-ground black pepper
  • A dozen burger buns

For the guacamole:

  • One large avocado
  • juice of half a lime
  • 15 parsley leaves, torn and shredded
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh-ground black pepper
  • Parsley leaves, paprika, for garnish
  1. To make the burger: grind the potato, onion, and basil leaves in a food processor until a finely ground paste.
  2. Mix the ground meat with the paste and when fully mixed, add the lime juice and mix again.
  3. Add the paprika, oregano, and black pepper.
  4. Form into balls.
  5. Grill on high heat for four minutes each side.
  6. To make the guacamole: mash the guacamole and combine with lime, and parsley. When fully mixed, add the spices. Season according to taste.
  7. Garnish with parsley leaves and paprika.
